Meet Softronic’s new CEO Mattias Flock. Mattias started with us on May 26 and below you will find out a little more about him, his background and driving forces.
What made you want to join Softronic?
In my view, Softronic has a unique position and opportunity in the market. As a Swedish company with a broad portfolio, from server operations to managed services, our own developed SAAS – solutions to consultancy, we can deliver a full range of IT services efficiently. These are services that are in demand by the market and our customers, so that our customers can focus on their own core business and the commitments they have to their owners, customers and employees.
With our stable IT portfolio, we can take care of our customers’ technology and contribute to strengthening the Swedish model and Swedish competitiveness. The fact is that in these times the market is challenging and companies are looking for more local partners than big global players. With this in mind it left me in no doubt that this journey at Softronic was something I wanted to be a part of!
What are your driving forces?
I have a combination of really enjoying creating and seeing something get better, more efficient and bigger in a context where people thrive with us and our customers. I like to see the results of the energy and focus that I and my colleagues put in. At the same time, working with people who are passionate about their cause is central to me. I have a characteristic that if I am going to do something, I want to do it well, big or small.
I love to see others grow and to inspire, so if I and others take on a challenge together we can see the results even if it feels challenging or impossible at first. I also believe in leading by example and that it is together that we achieve results.
One of the main things that led me here and why I enjoy my job so much is that we are constantly faced with customers’ challenges and that I get to be involved in creating solutions that strengthen the customer’s capabilities. These are solutions we base on everything we see across industries and partners that we use to create a solution that fits each unique customer. That’s what excites me every day.
What do you think about the market?
Every market has its charm. Stable markets allow for long-term strategies for both us and our customers, while more turbulent markets provide at least as many opportunities for all parties, but require more agile organizations with faster decisions. Turbulence creates opportunities when several players move in their market segment for one reason or another. If we combine deglobalization, inflation, security, sustainability, cloud, etc. that affect both opportunities and business models, we get an incredibly interesting situation. If we then add AI on top of all that, we have many exciting opportunities ahead of us.
What is your background?
I have a degree in Engineering Physics from Uppsala University. In my career, I have initially worked in a small local consulting company with few processes and high dependence on people and then medium-sized consulting companies operating in the Nordic region. Most recently, I have worked at a large global consulting company operating on several continents and with a partly similar offer portfolio as Softronic.
I have worked as a .Net programmer, project manager, program manager, sales manager, unit manager, division manager and today CEO.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to be outside and the best combination is outside with the family. When there is an opportunity, I like to be in nature and cycle MTB, ski, sail, chop wood or just grill sausages. Besides that, running is a passion for me. Sometimes shorter and sometimes longer, but as a balance to my work where I set goals and want results, running is one thing where I do not measure speed or compete. However, I know that I need exercise to feel good, so there are usually about 200 training sessions of running per year.

I’m incredibly happy to finally be up and running and I’m really looking forward to what we at Softronic will achieve together!
