Softronic was on site in Almedalen and also invited customers to a mingle. Mathias Kjellberg, Sandra Madstedt and Mia Johansson traveled from Stockholm. Below you can read Mathias’ thoughts on Almedalen 2025.

We are now on our way back after a few intense days in Almedalen. We at Softronic only had one social mingle to organize ourselves, so I had plenty of time for meetings and also time to attend some seminars when I wasn’t at various mingles. I still think it’s an unbeatable way to hang out with our customers and partners and at the same time take participate in the social debate.
There is a lot to cover, but we paid extra attention to two areas:
- 1) Responsible AI
- 2) Internal and external influences and general resilience
For us (and our customers), responsible AI is obviously a big issue that was discussed extensively. Lots of complaining about AI but few concrete examples of where regulatory requirements have stopped innovative solutions.
What’s perhaps even more interesting is that several start-ups with international customers still believe Sweden offers both the right expertise and sufficient access to AI infrastructure (“compute”) through global suppliers. This suggests that local players focusing on specific application-layer models can deliver not only significant benefits but also responsible solutions. Encouraging and very much in line with our own perspective.
However, all actors with international customers testified that many other countries/markets are a little ahead in wanting to buy more advanced AI solutions.
Here I think that we as suppliers have a responsibility to demonstrate real business benefits with our solutions to move forward from all these pilots.
Since it was me, Sandra Madstedt and Mia Johansson (both from our anti-money laundering service CM1) who were Softronic’s representatives this year, we looked a little extra at resilience to external and internal influences and ended with a concerned but still hopeful Gunnar Strömmer at KPMG’s seminar on this topic. Good with increased opportunities for authorities to share data with each other and also that our customers and we as suppliers will soon also be able to get feedback on submitted reports of crime.
Resilience also often means redundancy in technical environments, communications and in power grids, something that was discussed in a number of different variants. What I thought was a bit new was that everyone seemed to agree that insight and understanding of the new threat environment has made it much easier to achieve collaboration, exercises and, by extension, a more resilient culture for our Total Defense, which for us at Softronic is often about how we work with our customers in civil society and our own IT operations.
Also fun with the topic “Is the unemployment insurance too lax”. A little unexpected move and a good and open discussion about how the whole ecosystem can be sharper.
Had a turn on the healthcare side because EY had an interesting panel with both public and private healthcare providers. It will be exciting to continue to follow how the transfer of responsibility between EHM/Regions/Inera will develop and how we as suppliers can help.
Most unexpected was our new customer Naturvetarnas mingle in a rainy Botanical Garden. Fun and as someone in the company said “an opportunity to get away from the crowd and recognize yourself again”.
Finally, a big thank you to all of you who came to our mingle at our office just outside Söderport. Despite some uncertain weather, it was very nice and well organized by our local team. Not everyone has nice colleguages, local drinks and sausages and warp at the same time. We’ll have to do it again next year!
