Gate 1 is Softronic’s trainee programme and a new round will get underway tomorrow. There are 12 recent graduates who are doing this programme over the autumn. The project manager is Johan Gedda, who did the programme himself back in 2016.  Johan also works as a project manager and sales support for Softronic’s CM1 service that combats money laundering.

How many years have you been involved in the trainee programme?
I’ve been the project manager for the last two rounds of the programme.”

What do you find most enjoyable about being involved in the trainee programme?
Getting to see all the participants from different backgrounds and roles working together to develop solutions based on previous experiences and input from their current projects.”

How have you had to adapt the programme because of Covid-19?
“We’ve constantly had to evaluate the situation and follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden. This means that we’re going to carry out parts of the programme digitally. But we do think that it’s extremely important for a recent graduate to actually get the chance to come to their new workplace and meet other people who are in a similar situation to themselves. The induction days will therefore take place on site, but we’ve booked an extra large conference room, and we’re going to put up clear social distancing signs, etc. in the office.”

What advice can you give to the Gate 1 trainees for the autumn of 2020?
To take this opportunity to work on elements that are outside their normal role in their projects.”

How do you yourself feel that you have been able to use the knowledge you gained from Gate 1 in your work?
I gained a better understanding of the projects and management that I don’t normally work with directly, as well as a lot of tools and project templates that I still use today.”

A new round will start in 2021. If you would like to join, please send us an expression of interest!
